Amazon announced general availability of its mobile ads API, which it said offers developers “the ability to earn great eCPM by monetising your app with mobile ads from the Amazon Mobile Ad Network”.

The company said that it has seen eCPMs – the amount developers earn for each 1,000 impressions – rise by 30 per cent since its beta launch in March.

The Amazon Mobile Ads API will be included as part of the Amazon Mobile App SDK. Developers integrating it into apps offered via the Amazon Appstore can also distribute these apps via other stores.

It cited early adopter Games2Win, which said: “The $2.00 eCPM we saw from Amazon far exceeded our expectation. We tested Amazon in our Kindle app first. Now we’re racing to get the Amazon ads integrated in all of our apps across all Android stores.”
