Mobile and social media company Airupt launched a new social search engine for mobile apps.

Called appcurl, it bases search result rankings on user preferences and social network activity to highlight apps that are most relevant to individuals. It supports Apple’s App Store, Google Play and Amazon’s Android store.

Airupt CEO Bala Velmurugan said that with there likely to be more mobile apps than websites soon, appcurl is “designed to address the unique needs of today's socio-mobile consumer lifestyle”.

Airupt also launched a web-based social media portal called appsociety for users to discover apps through recommendations rather than a search engine and to share app experiences.
