Mobile ad network Airpush and app security player Appthority are to work together to tackle the increasing problem of mobile malware.

The partnership will see Appthority’s mobile security technology integrated with the Airpush platform, to scan all app promotions in addition to the existing manual approval process used by Airpush.

The partners said that the integration of the two technologies has seen Airpush virtually eliminate the threat of mobile malware distribution via its network of more than 50,000 apps. Airpush can also monitor threats globally.

Airpush is also encouraging other mobile ad networks to take similar steps so the malware problem is tackled across the industry. “The threat of mobile malware is damaging to all players in the ecosystem, and mobile ad networks are uniquely positioned to combat the threat,” said Airpush founder and CEO, Asher Delug.
