Home rental company Airbnb is reportedly testing a new app for organising travel plans, as it looks to expand from its core market.

According to Bloomberg, the company had offered a version of the software, called Airbnb Trips, via Google Play, although not for long. It offered access to itineraries, as well as information about Airbnb rentals made by the user, relevant city guidebooks, dining and entertainment information.

A source said the name and features could change before its official release, which is expected at its annual conference in November, reported The Information.

Apparently, the move will allow hosts to make money by recommending certain websites and giving tours.

“We’re continually experimenting with new things and we don’t have anything to share right now, but we have a few exciting things in the works,” Nick Papas, spokesman for the company, told Bloomberg.

The development follows a report earlier this year revealing the company’s ambitions to offer users a more personalised touch, including plans to sell add-on services, which it said was one of its top priorities for 2016.

Online travel agents such as Expedia and TripAdvisor have enabled users to book activities, while the move could also help Airbnb differentiate from companies that focus solely on room booking.

Airbnb released a new version of its main app in April, adding neighbourhood travel guides.
