  • In places like rural Africa (more than half of the continent), it's about fulfilling basic needs such as cell phone banking transactions or being able to get notifications from a hospital, etc... which can be performed from handsets with basic functions. Nokia's move is an interesting one and I fully support it.

  • Cell broadcast helped save a number of people in Japan in the last earthquake- this is a wonderful example of the effectiveness of have a mobile phone. I believe use of mobile as warning system should be one of the primary sectors to research. Also, localization of the operating systems and services should also be priorities- only then we would be able to get more people connected.

  • Well is almost a year since this commitment and we don´t have Windows Phone In Mexico from Nokia an Emergent Market! As I understand from Event in October 2011 marketing Director lived and visit Mexico but still no notices from Nokia. So I don´t see working the plan A. Plan B was that Plan A must work. Lumia is gorgeus line but to sell they need to deliver. As usual until November we are going to see 12 month old devices. We are tired of this. If Apple can deliver more fast new models. We need several models with several carriers unlocked now! Be global and diverse! We don´t have any model from Nokia in Windows Phone! To be clear Microsoft has a degree of salt in this situation becasue there are more than 30 models from other brands since 2 years ago. So I understand the new direction of Nokia but need improvement, Definitive I don´t undestand Microsoft direction. Prices are not going to be more atractive if we have few models, few carriers & no great # of models. As our history dictates we like variety and we absorb cultures but how a country can absorb a culture if we cannot see, touch & buy. 2 models in Mexico 1 from Telcel LG Optimus sin Nov 2010. And the other one Samsung Omnia W from Movistar since 15 Feb 2011 and only 100 devices. N9 is awesome! Lumia 800 is a sweet but not everyone want to buy from Expansys in cash! Options please!
