Mobile money is one of the services that is helping revenue growth for Orange’s emerging markets in the Middle East and Africa.

Revenue from Orange Money grew by 51 per cent in Q2, although the operator did not reveal the actual numbers behind this figure.

Along with data and B2B services, mobile money was highlighted by Orange as pushing revenue growth in its Middle East and Africa markets.

Overall these markets saw a 2.3 per cent growth in revenue to €1.25 billion in the second quarter.

In the first half of 2016, the same markets saw a 3.3 per cent increase in revenue to €2.52 billion.

Orange also offered a couple of other impressive-sounding Money data points: a 61 per cent year-on-year increase in monthly transaction value to €1 billion in Q2, as well as a 36 per cent year-on-year increase in Orange Money users to 19 million in the same period.
