LG Electronics said it had sold more than 10 million LTE smartphones worldwide, which it attributed to its “aggressive push into 4G markets with a combination of the best hardware and advanced 4G LTE technologies”.

The South Korean company said that its growing presence in this sector is the result of its “early entry into the LTE market and its leadership in LTE research and development”.

Last year, it launched LTE smartphones in markets including the US, Japan, Germany and its home country, and in recent weeks began the rollout of the Optimus G (pictured) in an additional 50 countries.

“Having established ourselves as a major industry player, we will continue to expand our footprint in the global LTE market with a wider range of differentiated, high quality LTE smartphones,”  said Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Mobile Communications.
