Independa, a vendor which offers cloud services to enable monitoring of the elderly, is to incorporate Telcare’s glucose monitoring system into a range of sensors that can be used to track the health of older users.  The link-up will enable the transmission of glucose test results to Independa’s care management cloud from where measurements can be accessed by carers and family members.

Telcare, in which Qualcomm is an investor, recently launched its cellular-powered glucometer which uploads measurements to a remote database. The company claims it is the first such product.

In the Independa link-up, data is forwarded from Telcare’s database to the former’s cloud-based Caregiver Web App which acts as a gateway for information on elderly patients. It provides a dashboard and control panel that carers can access through desktop PC, laptops or tablets. Thresholds and alerts are set by Independa system and applied to the data generated by Telcare.
