Cisco Jasper is supplying a management platform across VimpelCom Group’s global operator footprint that will enable enterprises to implement, manage and monetise IoT deployments.

Among the applications envisaged are fleet management and smart metering. The idea is to expand these services across all markets that are served by the operator.

“VimpelCom is focused on developing its digital strategy and the group is investing in new and innovative technologies that will enable our customers to fully embrace the digital economy, now and in the future. This partnership will provide our business customers with new technologies such as M2M and IoT,” said Eugene Viskovic, VimpelCom Group chief business officer.

Cisco Jasper’s control center platform claims to provide real-time visibility and management of M2M connections to underpin commercial IoT services.

Using the platform, VimpelCom customers can remotely manage M2M/IoT devices, set up rules to control SIM activity, as well as manage data costs, and automate business processes.

VimpelCom Business offers M2M technologies through network applications and managed services across a number of markets including Russia, Italy, Algeria, Pakistan, Ukraine, Bangladesh, and Eurasia.

Cisco Jasper was created in March after Cisco completed its $1.4 billion acquisition of IoT specialist Jasper. At the time the companies said Jasper managed and drove connected devices and services for more than 3,500 enterprises worldwide, working with 27 service provider groups globally.
