Sony Mobile unveiled an addition to its Xperia X series line, which it described as a “stylish selfie-cam masterpiece”.

The troubled smartphone maker announced X series at Mobile World Congress this year.

Called Xperia XA Ultra, the mid-tier device has a big (6-inch full HD) screen and 16MP front-facing camera and low-light sensor. It also offers a “smart selfie flash” for night scenes, plus optical image stabilisation.

The rear camera has a resolution of 21.5 megapixels, with hybrid autofocus and quick launch.

The company also said it offers 2-day battery life. It is powered by a MediaTek octacore processor, with 3GB of RAM and up to 16GB of storage (with MicroSD expansion).

XA Ultra will be available from July in black, white and “lime gold”.
