Samsung is apparently lining up a device launch for the Indian market this week, with suggestions it will introduce features targeting motorcycle users.

The event is being promoted with the hashtag #TapKickVroom, and a teaser that the launch will “change the way you ride”.

It seems likely the company will unveil versions of its Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 devices targeting the Indian market, what with these devices having recently been listed on Samsung’s China website.

These represent the 2016 evolutions of devices with the same name, which were announced last year. Samsung followed a similar path with its Galaxy A series smartphones, which have also carried over names from last year.

According to reports, Galaxy J5 has a 5.2-inch HD display, is powered by a 1.2GHz quadcore processor, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage (with expansion slot). The LTE device also has 13MP main and 5MP front cameras.

The higher-spec Galaxy J7 has a 5.5-inch full HD screen, is powered by a 1.6GHz octacore processor, with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage (again with expansion slot). As with its sibling, it includes LTE connectivity and 13MP main camera.

But, at least in their Chinese forms, there seems to be no link with motorcycle use.

Indeed, it is possible that these devices will not be the focus of this week’s event, although with Samsung having already updated its flagship and A series lines, a J series update does seem the most likely candidate.
