Microsoft announced availability of an LTE-enabled version of its Surface tablet, although so far it has only confirmed support for US operator AT&T.

The US company is offering a new version of its Surface 2 device with support for the LTE network, which otherwise shares its specifications with the non-cellular Surface 2.

It is powered by Windows RT 8.1 rather than the full version of the Windows platform, meaning it remains subject to many earlier criticisms of this OS – specifically related to the availability of suitable apps.

The device is being bundled with 200GB of OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) storage for two years.

Surface 2 (AT&T 4G LTE) is only available in a single version, with 64GB of storage, at $679.
