LG Electronics is to begin the global rollout of its Zero smartphone, a mid-tier smartphone with a full metal body “for a more advanced and modern experience”.

Availability begins this week in Taiwan, followed by other markets in Asia, Europe and Latin America. It debuted in South Korea in September.

The company said the device also “inherits the advanced camera technology and exclusive UX features of the LG G series”.

“At LG, we do not believe in limiting our best technology to just our flagship devices,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications.

LG Zero has a 5-inch HD (720 pixel) screen, 13MP rear and 8MP front cameras, and is powered by a 1.2GHz quadcore processor with 1.5GB of RAM. It has 16GB of onboard storage, with microSD expansion slot, and include LTE support.

It is powered by the previous generation of Android (Lollipop).
