LG Electronics announced a new corporate structure, under which “three veteran executives” will “oversee every aspect of [its] business”, with more independence and responsibility to enable faster decision making.

Heading the mobile business will be Juno Cho, who is already president and CEO of Mobile Communications for the company.

In a statement, it said that the new structure will give units “more autonomy to respond quickly and decisively to market conditions and business growth opportunities”.

While LG’s mobile business had been profitable earlier in 2015, it fell into the red in the third quarter, due to poor sales in its home market.

It has announced a set of new devices ahead of the lucrative Christmas holiday sales period.

Less positively from a PR point of view, it recently pulled the LTE version of its Urbane smartwatch, citing hardware issues.
