Lenovo is set to phase out its Vibe brand in its home market, according to reports originating from China.

Apparently, the moniker will be phased out for its mid-range and high-end smartphone, and replaced with a new line, Lemon, alongside Motorola-branded products. Lemon will be split into sub ranges, targeting entry and mid-level smartphones, while Motorola products will be available across the range (including at higher price points).

Lenovo has previously used the Lemon brand for some smartphones.

It is not clear if the company also intends to carry out a similar rebranding outside of China.

Following its acquisition of Motorola Mobility, Lenovo has undertaken a broad restructure of its mobile unit, promising “a much simpler, more streamlined product portfolio with a reduced number of clearly differentiated models”.

This also includes Motorola leading the design, development and manufacture of smartphones.
