HTC teased a new smartphone launch scheduled for next week, with speculation it is set to update its Desire mid-tier line.

The company added three videos to a launch webpage, highlighting features including a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. One also contained a circle with the number 150 inside, which may be a reference to a wide-angle 150 degree camera, with another featuring design elements such as gold edging.

The speculation is that the company will offer two Desire 10 devices, tagged Pro and Lifestyle, with the former having the higher-end specs.

Mooted specifications include 5.5-inch HD screens (720p for Lifestyle, 1080p for Pro), with 13MP main and 5MP front cameras, Boomsound speakers, and Qualcomm processors.

HTC is in a prolonged period of transition following tough times in its core smartphone business, which has seen it making significant cost cuts as it looks to align spending with sales.

In the company’s most recent conference call, it was bullish about its sales performance in the second half of the year, building on momentum generated by its HTC 10 flagship.
