Troubled device maker HTC has hired Paul Golden, former head of marketing at Samsung’s mobile phone business in the US, according to Bloomberg.

Golden, according to “two people familiar with the matter”, will be an adviser to HTC chairman Cher Wang.

The hiring of Golden comes at a time of sales decline and shrinking market share for the Taiwanese firm.

However, HTC is trying to turn things around, launching its One M8 handset last month.

Wang pledged to improve sales through better marketing.

“We just have to communicate well with our customers,” the chairman said in an interview at HTC’s Taipei headquarters on 8 April, quoted by Bloomberg. “I believe if we can communicate better, we will do better.”
