Google scheduled an event for 29 September which is expected to see the unveiling of its next Nexus devices, as well as marking the release of its latest Android platform – Marshmallow.

Previous reports have suggested that LG Electronics and Huawei will both make new Nexus smartphones for Google, continuing an earlier relationship with the South Korean company, but marking a first for the Chinese player.

LG is apparently set to manufacture a device with 5.2-inch screen, while Huawei will manufacture a bigger (5.7-inch, 2K resolution) smartphone.

A listing on Amazon India, reported by Android Central, the LG device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor (as used in its G4 flagship), with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, 12.3MP rear and 5MP front cameras.

Purportedly leaked images of the Huawei device show the product with a pronounced hump at the top, where the camera is housed.

Last year, Google worked with Motorola to offer the 6-inch Nexus 6, closing off the market for customers who prefer more mainstream-sized handsets.

According to Droid Life, the smartphones will be called Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P respectively.

Indeed, the company has got to the point where it cannot add numbers incrementally to its model names, with Nexus 7 having already been used for a tablet. Nexus 5 was used for an earlier LG device.
