Specialist device maker Doro said that Vodafone Group is to offer its feature phones targeting older users in a number of markets.

Vodafone will offer Doro devices in Germany, Ireland, Italy and the UK. This also marks the entry to a new market for the vendor – Italy – and “further strengthens our position across Europe, especially in Germany, as the market leader of mobile phones for seniors”, said Jerome Arnaud, president and CEO of the company.

While Doro also offers senior-targeted smartphones, the deal with Vodafone covers its more basic products. The first shipments started in September.

Earlier this year, Chris Millington, UK & Ireland MD for Doro, said that the company is close to being the top feature phone vendor in some markets, as more mainstream players switch their focus to smartphones.
