The latest iPhone release is already having a positive impact on its two major assemblers in Taiwan, which reported record sales in September.

Pegatron’s sales last month jumped 55 per cent year-on-year to TWD166.08 billion ($5.05 billion) and more than doubled from the previous month, the Taipei Times reported. The strong September sales helped fuel a 30 per cent increase in Q3 revenue.

A Pegatron representative told the Times that revenue from the non-notebook computer segment exceeded its forecast.

Meanwhile, Apple’s largest supplier Hon Hai Precision, also know as Foxconn, reported September sales increased 11 per cent from a year ago to TWD460.9 billion, setting a new record for the company. Revenue was up 57 per cent from August.

Its Q3 revenue rose 12.3 per cent to TWD1.06 trillion.

Apple said in late September it sold more than 13 million iPhone 6s and 6s Plus devices – unsurprisingly, another “new record” – in the three days following its launch.

Despite the strong sales, IC suppliers in Taiwan have expressed concern that Apple may cut back on its chip orders for the iPhone. A major analogue IC supplier said that Apple has lowered its orders for supplies for the new iPhones for December, sources told the DigiTimes.

Aplle will bring the new iPhone 6s devices to more than 40 new markets from today, including Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain and Taiwan. By the end of the year, Apple is targeting more than 130 countries.
