Gaming phenomenon Pokemon Go generated a record $200 million in revenue during its first month, said SensorTower, vastly out-earning other successful games like Candy Crush and Clash Royale.

The app intelligence firm found that revenue growth accelerated significantly when the game came to Japan, 18 days after its initial launch, on 22 July, to beat both 2014’s Candy Crush and this year’s Clash Royale in terms of cash generated.

Clash Royale, released in March, was the fastest game to 10 million downloads before Pokemon Go was launched, and was a “ revenue powerhouse during its first month of availability”, earning just under $125 million in the first 30 days.

However, Pokemon Go “still vastly out earned it during the same period of time”.

Clash Royale is made by Supercell, recently bought by Chinese internet giant Tencent for $8.6 billion.

Candy Crush Soda Sega, meanwhile, still one of the top grossing mobile games since its launch in 2014, was soundly beaten by Pokemon Go, with it earning seven times more revenue in its first month, compared to the hit puzzle game.

SensorTower added Pokemon Go is the fastest mobile game to hit 10 million worldwide downloads, and daily average usage of the app stands at 26 minutes.
