App monetisation company Tapjoy announced a deal which will see it taking on the core team from Viximo, a provider of cross-platform distribution tools for social games and apps.

The acquirer said that “with expertise in social integration and cross-promotion”, its new Boston studio will “greatly accelerate the company’s growth and enhance its ability to bring social tools to Tapjoy’s app discovery platform”.

Terms of the deal were not announced, and it appears that Tapjoy may not have bought Viximo’s existing platform – in its statement, it only makes reference to gaining staff as a result.

Tapjoy said that the deal and its new expertise “supports the company’s strategy to aggressively expand its product offerings and add complimentary services that both enrich consumers' mobile experiences and aid its developer partners in building their businesses in the iOS, Android, Windows Mobile and HTML5 ecosystems”.

Mihir Shah, CEO of Tapjoy, said: "With this expansion in Boston, we have assembled a team that can best deliver innovative social experiences to our consumers and developers.”
