The parent company of the LINE range of apps is aiming to have 300 million users by the end of 2013, the China Post reported.

The South Korea-based company aims to boost user numbers by focusing on the emerging markets of China, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Kang Hyun-bin, the head of parent NHN, said that LINE, which makes voice, messenger and camera apps, currently has around 100 million users.

NHN already has footholds in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, and has outlined plans to build on its growth with support for third-party developers.

Future plans include broadening the range of LINE apps, including a video messaging product.

This week, NHN said that LINE Camera has been downloaded more than 20 million times in its ten months of availability.
