MoEngage, a user analytics and engagement platform for apps in India, raised $4.25 million in funding to launch in the US and emerging markets as well as “double down on product innovation”.

“We have been working in stealth mode with the largest internet companies and built out the next generation mobile marketing automation platform for B2C companies,” said Raviteja Dodda, CEO.

MoEngage’s platform helps retain and engage users by enabling app companies to deliver personalised interactions via push notifications, in-app recommendations, email campaigns and other retargeting channels which reduce churn and improve customer lifetime value.

The startup also unveiled three new capabilities for its clients: uninstalling tracking and analytics; geo-fencing capabilities; and smart email campaigns.

The Bangalore-based company, set up in July last year, says it is currently profiling one fifth of smartphone users in India and delivering around one billion personalised interactions.

It works with many consumer-internet companies in India like Snapdeal and TaxiForSure. In the US, it has an office in San Francisco where it works with companies like Sell It and SpotHero.

The current funding round was led by Helion Venture Partners with additional funding from Exfinity Ventures, the co-founders of Snapdeal and the founder of TaxiForSure.
