South Korean mobile games developer Gamevil has announced it has passed 200 million downloads on smartphones, which it attributes to its Partner Fund programme for third party developers.

Gamevil has funded more than 40 developers from around the world since the launch of the Partner Fund and has provided both its expertise in monetisation and distribution to a large user base via Apple’s App Store and Google Play.

The Partner Fund received a fresh injection of $10 million in July bringing Gamevil’s total contribution to the fund to $20 million. The initial investment made in 2011 was used to support “various indie developers across the world” and financed a “large portion” of its titles released in 2012.

Gamevil also announced that it has recruited former VP of corporate development at Nexon USA, Won Il Sue, as senior VP of Gamevil USA. The company said the appointment will “solidify itself further as the leading mobile games publisher”.
